Turandy was created in the chaos following the creation of the Delosian city states, after the third wave of attacks, the cities in the south and east had survived relatively untouched. For their protection they banded together under the banner of Count Artorius the bold. Their survival was bought through hard fought battles particularly in the early days of the princedom when little was known about these strange man-beasts. But as the war went on, the Turandian forces gained bits and pieces of information on strengths and weaknesses of were-creatures and eventually some kind of border was established between the two countries. This border was heavily guarded for many years until an agreement was reached in IA 512 establishing the border roughly where it is today, just over 1400 years later. Though there have been wars between the two countries have occurred since years have been much more peaceful since the agreement. With the creation of the Mangenti magocracy only a few years later in IA 547, a different border had become the key focus of Turandian forces. The current prince is Arthen IV, the crippled prince.
Geography
Turandy is a mostly rural princedom with 3 major cities, Turand, Pathid and Caliis. Much of the princedom is forest with large clearings containing villages that hunt and farm. The princedom is famed for its hunting including the rare dire stag. The southern regions of the princedom near Caliis contain the few mines within its borders including one of few remora ore mines in the world. A very small vein perhaps 10 lbs of ore is mined a year, despite its small size it is one of the most heavily protected sites in the princedom.
Economy
The princedom of Turandy has few economic ties with outside entities but trade some lumber with neighbouring countries in exchange for iron. The princedom is fully self-sufficient in growing food but has little for export, most of which goes to Delos.
Nobility
Turandian nobility rarely ride and generally move and fight on foot. In Turandy, archery is not considered to be beneath the nobility. Nobles are generally a mix of aristocrat and ranger and are expert hunters, particularly in their native forests. Turandy houses an above average population of druids and turandian casters do not have a specific area of magic that they specialize in and are often proficient in multiple types of magic.
Military
The Turandian military is skilled at skirmishing with archers and javelins but does poorly in a fixed battle. In order to combat it’s main enemies in the Delosian city states and the Magenti magocracy, the Turandian prince Artan created the Quicksilver Knights who train specifically for combating wizards and were-creatures. These knights have developed some specific weapons to fight both these threats, arrows capable of removing the most dangerous abilities of these foes.
Delos has few naval vessels, as those they do have are designed for defence of their coast and feature large complements of archers with fire arrows. All Turandian vessels have at least one mage on board.
