Etian was a werebear of Diotes, he was noble of the second generation of the house of Iusar, one of the triumvirate of Diotes. Realizing that as a third son he was likely to get nothing from his father, Etian gathered enough money to purchase a single trireme, along with the crew necessary to operate it. Starting out with a shipment of Antochian iron ore, he began making trips to the eastern coast of Celanor. Within 15 years, he had a fleet of ships that were travelling throughout the region, carrying all manner of goods to other countries and returning with the grain that was so desperately needed in the City States.
Etian became ambitious in his old age, and set out to establish a Delosian colony, that he would name Syrtan, in honour his grandfather, Syrtan greyfur. Etian embarked with over 1000 settlers spread across 20 ships. He headed west and after journeying to the southern peninsula of Celanor, found the perfect spot, a natural double harbour with a few low hills just inland. Though the city was later taken over by the Ionian Empire, it is still a key port for Delosian shipping ventures. Know it houses a high shifter of the merchant house who makes sure that Etian’s descendants get a cut of all shipping that passes through the port.
